Healing Power Of Affliction
2 Corinthians 4:17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,
Affliction and suffering comes to every true believer that is not joyous at the time. God does not allow His children to suffer without a purpose.
What is the purpose? To draw us nearer to Jesus, prepare us to come home, and to glorify God. I just recently experienced this in my life and I know it is hard and challenging. It effected me not only physically but I was shown the enormous amount of lies that were running through my head to keep me from the Truth (Jesus). The lies fight against the Truth which causes stress and worry. During this time I had two choices, continue to believe my lies or choose to pursue and believe the Truth. It is a struggle to decipher what is Truth and what is a lie because the lies are so deeply embedded.
In order for me to know the truth I do the following:
- Read the word of God daily
- Listen to sermons at night while I sleep
- Stay in constant prayer
- Trust someone to help me with the Word of God.
If what I am believing is a lie then I pray to have that lie eradicated.
One day as I was praying to God, I clicked on this sermon titled "Who Do You Belong To". I had no idea what this sermon was about, but as I was listening to this sermon everything began to make sense in my life.
The Holy Spirit cleared the fog, broke through the lies, and I was given understanding. If you're going through affliction and suffering then I pray that you will be joyous and know it will bring you into a very personal encounter with Jesus the Christ. The joy and hope that I received when the truth crushed the lie changed my inner life in a moment. Jesus is strengthening me each and everyday. I cannot get enough of His Word. As I come to know Him more I come closer to Him and my lies fall one by one and are destroyed! Truth is shining and living in my heart and I pray I do not forget where I came from as God strengthens me. I NEVER WANT TO GO BACK!!
I prayed to have ears to hear, eyes to see and a teachable heart. I pray to have worshipful fear of you Lord and that you will make my will respect you Lord Jesus. I want to listen and obey. I want to trust you and want to be filled with your love. Teach me to be humble for this is good for me.
Proverbs 1:33 But those who listen to me will live in safety and be at peace, without fear of injury."
Proverbs 1:7 AMPC The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence];...
Proverbs 2:1 AMPC My son, if you will receive my words and treasure up my commandments within you, 2 Making your ear attentive to skillful and godly Wisdom and inclining and directing your heart and mind to understanding [applying all your powers to the quest for it]; 3 Yes, if you cry out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, 4 If you seek [Wisdom] as for silver and search for skillful and godly Wisdom as for hidden treasures,
5 Then you will understand the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of [our omniscient] God. 6 For the Lord gives skillful and godly Wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. 7 He hides away sound and godly Wisdom and stores it for the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with Him); He is a shield to those who walk uprightly and in integrity, 8 That He may guard the paths of justice; yes, He preserves the way of His saints.
9 Then you will understand righteousness, justice, and fair dealing [in every area and relation]; yes, you will understand every good path. 10 For skillful and godly Wisdom shall enter into your heart, and knowledge shall be pleasant to you. 11 Discretion shall watch over you, understanding shall keep you, 12 To deliver you from the way of evil and the evil men, from men who speak perverse things and are liars,
Lord I pray you cast down my thoughts and strongholds- 2 Corinthians 10 ESV 1 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, 6 being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.
Lord I pray you take my stronghold captive and destroy it and cause it to be obedient to you Lord. Set me Free from this stronghold and fill me with you. I no longer want my past, my past thoughts, my thoughts, my fear, and help me to buffet my flesh.
1 Corinthians 27 But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it, for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel and things pertaining to it, I myself should become unfit [not stand the test, be unapproved and rejected as a counterfeit].
