Does Your Mind Run Like A Tape Player
2 Timothy 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.
1 Peter 4:7 But the end and culmination of all things has now come near; keep sound minded and self-restrained and alert therefore for [the practice of] prayer.
Does your mind run constantly like a tape player that never stops, mine does. When my mind is thinking non-stop then I begin to ask and pray what the problem is or what is causing my mind to not be at rest. Most of the time, which is a lot, I am not trusting in my heavenly Father and I am not trusting in His Great Love for me.
My lack of trust is an open door for Satan to attack. This is what happens:
- My mind runs
- I have no peace
- I do not perform at my best
- Then Satan attacks by bringing ONE person to tell me how unhappy they were with me
- I immediately go into battle because my mind is telling me how worthless I am
- I feel hopeless and very insecure
Now some of you have your own list of what happens and your own feelings you go through. The past hurt of unworthiness causes Satan to attack our worth to God, our thinking, our belief and anything else we allow him. Are you sick and tired of running your tape player? I know I am!
I pray for God to renew my mind and to heal me of any past hurts and help me to forgive. When I pray, the battle begins heavily in my mind and the war is on. I must learn the armour of God to stand in the victory that Christ won for me. Satan hates Jesus Christ and demons are afraid of Him, I am in Christ and Christ is in me. All power and authority has been given to Christ this is how we as believers persevere. When we submit our will to Jesus the Christ we stand in His might and strength and are mighty warriors!
We need to learn to see Jesus perspective instead of our own and we need to stop thinking about ourselves and think about what God has done for us.
My war is heavy right now because I have thoughts that are negative and I see the glass half empty. I am here to tell you I HATE THIS THINKING and it is time to let go and let God. Below is some scripture that I hope helps you through and a prayer.
Psalm 10:12 GW Arise, O Lord! Lift your hand, O God. Do not forget oppressed people! 13 Why does the wicked person despise God? Why does he say to himself, “God doesn’t care”? 14 You have seen it; yes, you have taken note of trouble and grief and placed them under your control. The victim entrusts himself to you. You alone have been the helper of orphans. 15 Break the arm of the wicked and evil person. Punish his wickedness until you find no more. 16 The Lord is king forever and ever. The nations have vanished from his land. 17 You have heard the desire of oppressed people, O Lord. You encourage them. You pay close attention to them 18 in order to provide justice for orphans and oppressed people so that no mere mortal will terrify them again.
Psalm 17:6 GW I have called on you because you answer me, O God. Turn your ear toward me. Hear what I have to say. 7 Reveal your miraculous deeds of mercy, O Savior of those who find refuge by your side from those who attack them. 8 Guard me as if I were the pupil in your eye. Hide me in the shadow of your wings. 9 Hide me from wicked people who violently attack me, from my deadly enemies who surround me.
Psalm 51:8 GW Let me hear sounds of joy and gladness. Let the bones that you have broken dance. 9 Hide your face from my sins, and wipe out all that I have done wrong.
Dear Lord I pray for a new mind (Romans 12:1-2). Teach me Lord how to have a calm mind a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Teach me Lord to trust you and lean on you. Thank you for your grace and mercy upon me Lord. Lord I no longer want to think of all the wrongs and think of your word. How I need your word for your word brings life. I need life and I need you. Holy Spirit fill me with the fruit of spirit (Galatians 5) and teach me how to live it out, in Jesus name Amen!
