Watchman Should Warn When They See The Sword Coming

Ezekiel 33:6 AMP "But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand."

I read an article recently stating how uninterested most churches are in end-time prophecy. It makes the heart grieve and yearn even more to warn of the time we are living in.

In Mathew 24 and Luke 17 Jesus is telling His disciples the signs that will warn the Son of Man is returning to judge the earth. Though Jesus says no one but the Father knows the exact day and hour, we are to discern the times we are living. Are there current signs indicating His soon return?

Matthew 26:36-39
One of the signs, people will live life as if nothing is going to change.

Luke 17:26-30
Again we hear Jesus telling the signs of His second coming. Luke repeats Matthew as in people will be living as if the judgment of God will not come. Why is that? In Matthew's account Jesus says the people did not know or understand anything about what was going to happen.

What does Jesus mean they didn't know? The word know means to personally experience. This means they were told but they refused to hear the Gospel of Christ, repent of their sins, and receive faith. Therefore, they did not see the signs around them and their disbelief caused them to be blind.

What was happening in Noah's day?

Genesis 6:1-11
In Noah's day there was sexual immorality, violence all over the earth, and every inclination of man's heart and mind was evil. This means the majority of people lived ignoring and devoid of God and His laws.

Had they been warned?

1 Peter 3:20a who once were disobedient, when the great patience of God was waiting in the days of Noah, during the building of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons [Noah’s family], were brought safely through the water.

The people in Noah's day refused to obey God.

2 Peter 2:4b For if God did not [even] spare angels that sinned, but threw them into hell and sent them to pits of gloom to be kept [there] for judgment; 5 and if He did not spare the ancient world, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought [the judgment of] a flood upon the world of the ungodly;

While Noah was building the ark, he was preaching repentance and faith in God. In other words, he was preaching the Gospel of Christ. There are only guesses as to how long it took to build the ark but the guesses are 60 to 120 years. Either way, it was a long time to hear the gospel and watch Noah's faith in action.

Hebrew 11:7 By faith [with confidence in God and His word] Noah, being warned by God about events not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his family. By this [act of obedience] he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness which comes by faith.

Noah by faith heard God's warning and obeyed God. He began to build the ark which God used to save him and his family. Noah also condemned and pronounced judgment on the world through his obedience of faith to God. Noah through his faith was right with God.

What is the picture of Noah's day?

The ungodly are living as if there is no God and they have no consideration toward each other so the earth is filled with violence. While the sin and violence are rampant, there is a man who is busy doing and saying things that are completely opposite to the rest of society. He is building this huge boat because God's judgment is coming and he is preaching repentance to the people. The response of the people, no we will not obey God.

What happened to the people? Noah, his wife, his sons, and their wives were saved from God's wrath. Everyone else was caught in the flood and they endured punishment and died in their sins.

The warning in this time

Just like in Noah's day they did not want to hear the true gospel so nothing has changed and today people still want to hear what will satisfy their itching ears (II Timothy 4:3). For example:

What is the message of popular and TV preachers?
How many have turned from the true Gospel of Jesus Christ?
Do you know the true Gospel of Jesus Christ?
Who do you know that has or preaches about the reverential fear of God?
How many tell you God is holy, demands justice, judges, and hates sinners?(Psalm 5:4-6, 11:5)

Were you told Jesus will give you your best life now, solve all your problems, stop your suffering, and give you a life of ease?

Do you know you will suffer for the sake of Christ? The scripture says He hates sinners but in His hate His love is being offered through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus the Christ. God is love, mercy, forgiveness, long-suffering, and loving kindness also. Yes, He is all of these but one does not negate the other. God loves perfectly and He hates perfectly.

2 Timothy 3:12 Indeed, all who delight in pursuing righteousness and are determined to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be hunted and persecuted [because of their faith].

The Coming Judgment

There were two kinds of people in Noah's day and that is still true today. Those with saving faith in Christ and those without faith who will face God's judgment. Those with faith escaped God's judgment upon the earth and those without faith perished in their sins.

Do you know about the coming judgment and wrath God will send to the earth? Look around, there is sexual immorality of every kind, violence is once again filling the earth, and few preach the true gospel of Jesus Christ. The majority of people today live ignoring God and His laws. Few warn of the coming judgment upon the earth and few want to hear it, including most of the church. How do we know the time of grace is coming to an end?

2 Peter 3:3 First of all, know [without any doubt] that mockers will come in the last days with their mocking, following after their own human desires 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming [what has become of it]? For ever since the fathers fell asleep [in death], all things have continued [exactly] as they did from the beginning of creation.” 5 For they willingly forget [the fact] that the heavens existed long ago by the word of God, and the earth was formed out of water and by water, 6 through which the world at that time was destroyed by being flooded with water. 7 But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly people.

Just like in the days of Noah, the majority of people scoff, mock, and refuse to hear the warnings. When the time comes they will be eating, drinking, marrying, giving in marriage, planting, and doing business as usual and then.

1 Thessalonians 5:1 Now as to the times and dates, brothers and sisters, you have no need for anything to be written to you. 2 For you yourselves know perfectly well that the day of the [return of the] Lord is coming just as a thief [comes unexpectedly and suddenly] in the night. 3 While they are saying, “Peace and safety [all is well and secure!]” then [in a moment unforeseen] destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains on a woman with child, and they will absolutely not escape [for there will be no way to escape the judgment of the Lord].

Are you ready if your left here? Are you sure what you know is the Truth?
