Can Our Ways Get Us To Heaven

Views 484

Our flesh makes decisions and takes actions that are not acceptable to God.

Flesh - 4561 - (sarks) is generally negative, referring to make decisions (actions) according to self i.e. done apart from faith (independent from God's inworking). Thus what is "of the flesh (carnal)" is by definition displeasing to the Lord- even things that seem "respectable!" (HELPS Word-studies)
Our flesh is - ISBE (biblestudytools.com) 6. Applied to Carnal Nature ...Thus, the fleshly or carnal mind, i.e. a mind in subjection to carnal nature, is opposed to the Divine spirit,...

Flesh refers to our physical body and also refers to our soul (mind , will & emotions). That is, the mind which thinks not in godly eternal ways but in worldly temporary ways.

The Truth About Our Flesh

Romans 7:18 For I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh. For the desire to do what is good is with me, but there is no ability to do it. 19 For I do not do the good that I want to do, but I practice the evil that I do not want to do.

The truth is, there is nothing good in our flesh or carnal mind. The carnal mind thinks and acts in ways that are hostile to God. The carnality of our flesh will desire things that are independent of God thereby leads to death.

The Carnal Mindset

Teaching of the past and today is that people are good and they are okay. They teach guilt is a bad thing because your hurtful, destructive, and selfish thoughts and actions are not your fault. The excuse is that the people in your life, your environment, etc. are what caused you to turn from good to bad. The problem is I was taught that and I tried to make it work for me. But I know that when it was quiet with no distractions the heaviness in my heart would rear its ugly head and nothing of man was able to set me free.

The carnality of righteousness by works show us,

1. God created us to worship, seek help outside ourself, and the need for approval
2. The guilt that we try to squash is caused by the conviction of sin thereby producing the need for forgiveness

However, our works will never achieve what God will accept

Isaiah 64:5b HCSB But we have sinned, and You were angry. How can we be saved if we remain in our sins? 6 All of us have become like something unclean, and all our righteous acts are like a polluted garment; all of us wither like a leaf, and our iniquities carry us away like the wind.

Unclean- to be foul (Strong's Exhaustive Concordance)

Foul - odious which means- arousing or deserving hatred (merriam-webster.com)

The works of the flesh are independent from God, stink to God, and deserves the hatred of God.

Psalm 5:4 NASB For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; No evil dwells with You. 5 The boastful shall not stand before Your eyes; You hate all who do iniquity.

If you believe God accepts you because of your works, you are deceived. If you believe you are a good person you are deceived. Do you know personally what God says about sin, flesh, and the religious or are you going off someone else. It is our responsibility to read, study, and know for ourselves what the bible says from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21. The bible will not agree with sin, false religion, or our carnal mind.

The societies of today are turning from true biblical truths and embracing sin as if; it is respectable, there will be no judgement, and there is no Triune God.

Can Our Mind Be Changed

John 3:35 NASB The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand. 36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

Colossians 3:5 NASB Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. 6 For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience, 7 and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them

These verses tell who are under God's wrath and who has eternal life in God.

Jesus, the Son of God, died for our sins. That is God is pleased only with His death and finished work on the cross. It is only through faith in Jesus, the Messiah, that we are acceptable to God, no longer "sons of disobedience, and come out from under God's wrath and judgment.

Titus 3:4 NASB But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, 5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Jesus Christ the hope of eternal life. Everything else is hopeless delusion.

Watchman

Ezekiel 33:6 "But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand." (Amplified Bible)
